I <3 The Colour Field

I just fell in love the The Colour Field Painting movement. However I've always been a sucker for abstract pieces and anything mid-centry! Love these two pieces below... on a side note me thinks the painting that caused such a stir in Mad Men might be a Colour Field...

Art is music. Music is art. And without the blues a lot of todays music wouldn't exist....

Lee Miller

First off I have to credit Bust Magazine's Blog for introducing me to this amazing women. If you're not reading Bust Magazine or their blog I urge you to start now!

Lee Miller was a model, muse and last but certainly not least a photographer. Lee start her photography career off by studying with Surrealist artist and photographer Man Ray. She was the only female war photographer during WW2 and the haunting images she took graced the pages of British Vogue. She covered the London Blitz, the liberation of Paris and was also one of the first photographers present at the liberation of two concentration camps (Buchenwald and Dachau). The images she took there would haunt her for the rest of her life. On a lighter note she also was also known for her humorous photos and took many comical portraits of her famous artist friends. If you want to learn more about Lee Miller then make sure to checkout this online feature that explores her life and her art.

Your The Boss Apple Sauce

I've been totally slacking on the bloggage lately and I apologize. I was away and I'm finding it hard to get back into blogging mode. So like I said in my craft blog I'll make this one short but sweet. I recently started reading Edie: American Girl (It was first published in 1982). It's a book about Warhol Superstar Edie Sedgwick and her family. It's a pretty interesting book and I'll do a longer post about it when I've finished reading it. However I do recommend checking it out for yourself! If I wasn't writing this now I'd be reading it!
